One of my most memorable experiences with a collector, began when I was invited to be included in an exhibition entitled, Recollection, at the Art Center South Florida in Miami, FL. In this exhibition, I exhibited a large scale installation that spoke about defining moments in a woman’s life as defined by society: birth, bat mitzvah, and marriage. The images were based on my mother’s photographs as taken by my grandfather. Through this exhibition, I was introduced to a collector who I attribute to launching my career. He had the foresight to commissioned me to make a piece that used his family images in a small scale installation. From there, I received a major commission from the Los Angeles Community Foundation in Los Angeles, other pieces of work were exhibited in Art Basel which led to other purchases and commissions. Without this collector’s faith in my career, I am not sure I would be where I am today.
