Story 1
I was asked to do a special piece for a woman that would be a sort of portrait of her through meaningful images, The piece had the most extreme variation of images that I was worried about how it would hold together in the end. It represented microscopic image of eggs, a piano, a rocking chair, mountains, hosting, love, the Allhambra and a Mary Casset painting from the Art Institute. The strange combination resulted in one of my favorite pieces ever.

Story 2
Because my work is based on storytelling, I have had many personal and profound experiences with collectors. That is the richness of the creative process for me. One client called me after she had broken her neck and asked me to make a “spiritual piece” for her. We discussed all aspects of her healing and came upon some unexpected images which included Maori culture, an egret, pain killers, a globe, a robin and a portrait of her children–which coincidentally looked a lot like my sisters and myself as children. The whole experience was enriching. I had to trust my intuitive approach to the work because it didn’t sound good to me in concept but the reality was magical.
